Boston Medflite

BOSTON MEDFLITE

Boston MedFlight operates on 460.80R and ?130.575 - they used to operate on 155.16 then 155.235 then ?155.40 - they were dispatched by Brewster Ambulance in Boston for a while.

As of June 1999, Boston MedFlight usually makes no attempt to contact any units at any LZ when landing at an emergency scene. This is apparently due to extremely bad radio frequency coordination. In addition, the primary dispatch channel on 460.80 (which utilizes repeaters in Bedford, Boston, and Plymouth) is also used by baggage handlers at Logan Airport in Boston and by various private businesses in ?New Hampshire and ?Massachusetts. Just yesterday I heard Albany 1 trying to call in on 460.80 and no contact was made (I believe that Albany 1 was having difficulties receiving on 460.80).

Boston MedFlight flies 2 helos at all times - MedFlight 1 flies out of Plymouth Airport and MedFlight 3 flies out of Hanscom AFB in Bedford. The typical crew is 1 pilot and 2 ?paramedics. They are capable of doing chest decompressions in the field.
